Research question
How can type approval keep full oversight of automated systems that receive safety updates every few weeks?
Method
We map how a software update moves through approval today, under UN Regulation No. 156 and EU type-approval law. We ask approval authorities and technical services where the time goes.
We compare this with how other regulated sectors approve software changes, such as medical devices and aviation.
What we will publish
A proposal for a risk-based route, with the criteria that decide which updates need a full review. Our agenda lists the rules it would touch.
